Paul Mitchell is synonymous with beauty, but many people don’t realize that it is also known for being a huge supporter of philanthropic causes.
For three months out of every year, Paul Mitchell Schools participate in a FUNraising campaign in which they help raise awareness and money for several charities.
Future Professionals from the schools continue their charitable efforts throughout the year by visiting the elderly and taking part in a variety of community events throughout the year including Free Hugs Day. The Free Hugs Campaign has sent thousands of future professionals to community parks, shopping centers and other public areas to offer free hugs to passers-by. They dress in the signature Paul Mitchell black and do what they can to brighten someone’s day.
To date, the FUNraising campaign has raised over $13 million by participating in fashion shows, bake sales, cut-a-thons and many other events in communities throughout the United States.
Paul Mitchell Schools are dedicated to giving back because they believe it’s the right thing to do and they want to make a difference. Staff and students alike have expressed an overwhelming desire and joy at being part of a company that cares about its community. The schools boast providing a curriculum that not only educates about beauty, but also helps teach skills that lend themselves to being a well-rounded professional – and citizen.
The list of charitable causes is endless and includes:
- Building two homes for Habitat for Humanity
- Providing books for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
- Helping construct “smart homes” for veterans
- Feeding African orphans
- Supporting AIDS patients
- Providing support for hurricane victims
This is just a fraction of the types of causes that are supported by Paul Mitchell Schools. The giving philosophy has been passed down for years. Co-founder Winn Claybaugh believes charity is a constant need: “At Paul Mitchell Schools, giving back is an ongoing attitude about how we do business,” he says.
